April 8, 2008It’s been a long time since we started watching movies. I mean really watching movies. Philip and I grew up together and as we got older we found ourselves getting together most weekends(a lack of girlfriends made this easy) and watching whatever we could get our hands on at the local Blockbuster.
We rented movies based on actors (“This one has Alec Baldwin, Ed Harris, Kevin Spacey and Al Pacino!”), based on directors (“From the director of “Heat”), and often based on gunfire. I’m not going to lie…our tastes can run from the artsy to the explosiony.
We started talking about the movies we’ve seen and the ones we loved (there were plenty we hated) and decided we should do a few things: create a list of our Top 50 All-Time Favorite Movies, review new and old movies, and just talk about film in general. This isn’t a news site. It’s more of a movie fan’s perspective site.
This is our welcome to you. I’ll be back tomorrow with my guidelines for my personal Top 50 list. It’ll be a good way to get an idea of what movies I like and what we’ll be watching. My Top 50 list will inevitably vary a bit from Philip’s, but that’s fine. That’s why we’re here.
On Thursday we’ll preview our first movie, “Shaun of the Dead.” It’s a romantic comedy about zombies. It features the best use of the word “exacerbate” ever for film and plenty of violence. And laughs.
Thanks for stopping in.
